University Area CDC Hosts Tampa Family Feud Auditions

TAMPA, Fla. – (Jan. 14, 2014) – Auditions for the upcoming season 16 of Family Feud, with host Steve Harvey, took place this past weekend at the University Area Community Development Corporation (UACDC) Community Center Complex, located at 14013 North 22nd Street in Tampa. Those selected to appear on the show as a result of the auditions have a shot at winning up to $100,000 and a new car.

“We are excited and honored that Family Feud selected our facility for its Tampa tryouts,” said Ronnie Oliver, UACDC’s director of development. “At UACDC, we work to improve the economic, educational and social levels of University Area residents. With 95 percent of residents below poverty level, funds from facility rentals help us provide most youth programs, adult education and resource assistance, free of charge.”

Potential contestants had to first contact the show and upload a video introducing each of their five family members while describing what makes their team unique. Close to 600 families from Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg were chosen to participate in the live mock-game show and several groups advanced through the process and selected for another round of auditions in another city.

The University Area Community Center Complex is a 50,000-square-foot multi-purpose center that is the focal point of the community while providing critical services to thousands of residents.  It contains classrooms, community rooms, a fitness center, gymnasium and playground along with a performance stage as well as music, art and dance studios.

The community center offers 21 full-equipped rooms and areas available for rent that hold between 10 to 1,200 people. For questions about UACDC or facility rentals, send an email to facilityreservations@uacdc.org or call (813) 558-5212.
