Local Pup's Passing Inspires Engraving of Dog Park Bench

Wile E. Coyote passed away this week.

A few months ago, residents met with city officials to talk all things dog park in Seminole Heights. Where it would be located. How much equipment would cost. Who would maintain it.

While the park's progress and collection of funds continues, organizers have announced the engraving of a bench at the park to honor a four-legged local.

Wile E. Coyote was a golden retriever and labrador mix who died on Wednesday. In honor of Wile E. Coyote, dog park supporters plan to engrave the park's first bench with the following words, according to his owner, Karen White:

Roam about until exhausted and then, dropping to the ground, In this dropping be whole.

On the Seminole Heights Dog Park's Facebook fan page, White discussed Wile E. Coyote's life, saying he was raised by a now-deceased dog named Mr. Dog, and that he loved the Saturday morning pack walks in Seminole Heights.

"Seeing him so excited about being with the other dogs brought me great joy," wrote White.

Late yesterday, White said the dog showed "signs of an obvious bladder infection," and that his "back legs weren't working." A veterinarian said the infection was part of a neurological issue.

Even so, White was in good spirits after his passing.

"Don’t feel bad," White wrote. "Wile E. went out eating Kit-Kat chocolate bars. He had always wanted a chocolate bar but could not have one until today. I am sure I know where he is now, he is running through some sun dappled woods with his old friend, Mr. Dog."
