Community Corner

Suicide Prevention Forum

World Suicide Prevention Day is September 10, 2013. The theme this year is, Stigma: a Major Barrier to Suicide Prevention.  The Tampa Bay Suicide Prevention Task Force is holding a Forum to address education, support, coping and resiliency strategies in an effort to reduce stigma and barriers to help.  A panel of speakers from support organizations will describe warning signs, coping techniques, community resources, how to help others and advocacy opportunities.  A Candle Light Vigil will be held to recognize those lost to suicide. This will be done at 8pm in conjunction with people around the world participating in this World Suicide Prevention Day commemorative activity.  A Speak-out will focus on what people do to cope and reduce stigma in their own world. This is a collaborative effort of community organizations who offer support and resources.
