Three Weeks Later ...

A Seminole Heights tweeter pointed out this pile of junk on Lynn Avenue and wondered if it was a code violation.

This pile of old carpeting, furniture and car parts has sat next to the curb of 6902 N. Lynn Avenue for nearly three weeks, neighbors say.

Patch spoke to the husband of the owner to ask: "What's up with that?"

Daniel Harris said the family has been cleaning out the interior of the main house and the garage apartment for several weeks to renovate the property.

The pile hasn't gone unnoticed.

Harris said two code officers have stopped by to question him about the nearly 15-feet long pile of debris. However, he said the family was not cited for code violations.

Harris said the officers gave him a pass because the city's solid waste department will collect the pile this weekend, when the neighborhood is scheduled for its annual large item pickup.

A review of the city's web pages about the Solid Waste Enhanced Environment Program (SWEEP)  confirms that portion of North Lynn Avenue is included in the city's schedule for this weekend's SWEEP.

However, the program's rules say items may be placed next to the curb as early as eight days before pickup. The pile in question has been there nearly three weeks. The pile also has auto parts, which are excluded from the list of acceptable items.

Patch will check the residence on Monday morning to see if all of the items have been removed.
