Tampa Police Investigating Break-Ins, Robbery

A man was forced to hand over $5, police said.

  • An elderly man and his two friends were dining in the McDonald's restaurant at 8214 N. Florida Ave. at 11 a.m. when another man entered the business and approached the group. The man "cursed and threatened bodily harm" to the victim if he didn't give him $5 that was allegedly owed to him. The victim said he didn't owe the man any money but gave him the cash anyway to avoid being assaulted. Police confirmed the story from witnesses and placed a pick up order on the suspect.
  • At about 11:30 a.m., someone reached into a car's open window at the 8500 block of North Semmes Street and took a wallet from inside a diaper bag.
  • A home on the 1500 block of East Eskimo Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Someone broke through the rear bedroom window and pried open a rear door. The suspect took a gold necklace, a gold bracelet, a Dell laptop computer, a Gateway 42-inch plasma television, and three digital cameras.
  • A break-in was reported at a home on the 8600 block of North Mulberry Street. Between 9:30 a.m. and 6:23 p.m., someone broke a rear window, entered the home and left through the front door. Nothing appeared to be taken and the alarm might have frightened off the suspect.
