PatchCast: Clam Bayou Cleanup Shows Power of Volunteers

Volunteers pulled trash from the water and off the trails.

Volunteers came together on Saturday March 19, to help clean up  in Gulfport. The bayou is a 170-acre estuary. The bayou is unique because it is surrounded by Gulfport to the west, St. Petersburg to the east, and the Boca Ciega Bay to the south.

Nature lovers kayak and canoe in the bayou, and walkers and dogs use the trails daily. For years, the effects of urbanization have taken a toll on the area, washing trash and debris into the bayou.

Hear from organizers about the event and see how much trash volunteers pulled out of the water and off of the trails.
