• Today is Go Skateboarding Day. Skatepark of Tampa has organized big ride from their shop at 4215 E. Columbus Dr. to the Bro Bowl in downtown Tampa.
• Hillsborough County's Bully Busters program has won a 2011 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties. The anti-bullying public awareness campaign aims to bring attention to childhood bullying, educate the public and encourage the reporting of bullying behavior.
• Mayor Bob Buckhorn has formed an 18-member Economic Competitiveness Committee to review the city's permitting and regulatory processes to look for ways to improve the system.
