Hire a Driver For Your Own Car

Once, they drove a man toting cargo full of pigeons to New York. On other occasions, there were overnighters to Georgia and trips to Key West.

Chauffeur 2U allows a convenience for Tampa Bay clients that other transportation company's may lack: the ability to hire a driver to take you to a destination in your own vehicle. 

"We think it’s the future, and could benefit high-end clientle who don’t need a limo service," said Rivera, a driver and CEO of Skyline Limousine, the umbrella company of Chauffeur 2U.  "They just want a safe driver who can provide a car service. They pay for it all. It's not just driving."

Skyline's head of operations, MarkAnthony R. Little, who spent over a decade as an independent chauffeur, started Skyline Limousine in 2007.

Since then, the service near Seminole Heights has expanded from run-of-the-mill limousine company to handling fleet management and making sure vehicles up to standards set by Hillsborough County. Through Skyline, Little and his drivers chauffeured for Gasparilla crews and funerals of government officials.

Two years ago, Chauffeur 2U began. While clients en route to work-related meetings or conferences sit in the back of their own vehicle, a Chauffeur 2U driver - handpicked by the client in attire they've approved of - can continue working, using iPads, laptops or other electronic devices en route to their destination.

"It's not about the flash for them, but a safe ride," said Rivera, a Robinson High graduate.

The cost is between $25 to $32 per hour, versus about $85 per hour for a limousine ride, Little said, and drivers are background checked before taking clients on a ride that must be a minimum of three hours long.

"You can call us up, and we will get you a properly licensed chauffeur," Little said. "If you want to come in and see them and meet them, we do that as well."

Another option is choosing what your driver wears.

"We allow them to choose attire for the driver," said Little. "Our drivers are set to a standard, but it gives them flexibility. Some don’t like the suited up flashy driver. Just someone low key who happens to be driving their car."
