Library Summer Reading Programs to be Highlighted

On Saturday, the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative is celebrating the start of the Summer Reading program at John F. Germany Library in downtown Tampa.

The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative is celebrating the beginning of the library’s Summer Reading program, and invites the public to attend Summer Reading Kick-Off. Attend this event to learn about all of the FREE programs being offered for readers of all ages at your library this summer. The Summer Reading Kick-Off will take place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the John F. Germany Library, 900 N. Ashley Dr.

Kids will be entertained by Ronald McDonald and Doug Capen, magician and balloon-animal extraordinaire. Kids and teens will enjoy a game of Wii baseball with the Tampa Bay Rays Street Team, learn about how to read their way to the ballpark, and enjoy a guacamole demonstration by Chipotle. Every child who attends will receive a free Summer Reading book and a coupon for a free taco at Chipotle.

Just in time for summer, the Summer Reading Kick-Off will offer adults: delicious and healthy snack ideas with a vegetarian cooking demonstration; summer vacation planning and traveler’s tips from AAA; and boater’s safety tips. In addition, a QR code scavenger hunt will lead adventurous adult participants through the library for a chance to win a prize donated by Barnes and Noble Booksellers.
