Get Out: 5 Things You Can Do with Your Kids This Weekend

Here are Patch's picks for activities around the Tampa Bay region that are family-friendly and easy on the wallet!

 

SATURDAY

  • Visit the Seminole Heights Branch Library at 10:30 a.m. for This special story time celebrates Florida's past and present through books, songs, activities, and crafts.
  • The is a free activity for children every Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Tampa Museum of Art. Children are invited to create an art project on a different theme each week in the Golding-Scher classroom. This week's theme is "Creative Color Wheel." No registration required; however, regular admission for adults and children is required to view the galleries.
  • The festival in St. Petersburg's Vinoy Park is being held Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. It features food from local restaurants and live music from local performers and national acts. In addition, a Tampa Bay Rays Family Fun Zone features face painting, arts and crafts, interactive activities, and entertainment by Rays mascot Raymond and entertainers from Busch Gardens
  • The Tampa Theatre presents a free showing of "The Karate Kid" (the 2010 version) in Al Lopez Park as part of its Sunset Cinema series. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 8:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring a picnic supper and lawn chairs. Some concessions available.

  • It's $5 Day at Lowry Park Zoo to all adults, seniors and children ages 3 to 11 (children 2 and younger are free).  Please note: Because of the discounted admission, zoo rides are a separate fee.
