Drivers can expect traffic delays and detours near the Old Seminole Heights and Woodland Terrace neighborhoods starting today, the Tampa Water Department reports.
The department will be conducting water main leak assessments between March 12-30. Motorists should use caution during those three weeks in the following areas:
- Along 15th, 22nd and 30th streets north of Hillsborough Avenue
- Along Sligh and Hanna avenues between 15th and 30th streets.
Barricades and signage will be located in the area as necessary to assist with traffic flow. Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling in the assessment areas.
Water service will not be affected, the department said.
The project will help locate leaks that have the potential to contribute to main breaks.
A shut down a portion of East Osborne Avenue for several hours and affected traffic and bus routes.
"The staff and crews of the Tampa Water Department appreciate everyone's patience during the assessment period," it said in a release.
