Cold Weather Shelters Open in Seminole Heights

The county released a list of places to go to avoid the chill.

Cold weather shelters are open today (Jan. 31) for the homeless and anyone who does not have a home with adequate heat, according to county officials.

Local shelters are:

  • Metropolitan Ministries, 2010 N. Florida Avenue; shelter opens at 4 p.m. and is for families. Call 813-209-1077 for details.
  • Salvation Army, 1514 N. Florida Avenue; shelter opens at 4 p.m. and is for adults. Call 813-221-4440 for details.

Most shelters will close at around 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1.

Meals for the shelters are provided through Seminole Heights nonprofit Metropolitan Ministries. Anyone wishing to donate non-perishable items should contact Metropolitan Ministries at 813-209-1000.
