  1. At today’s meeting of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, members are set to approve a March 2 public hearing on an amendment to the county’s existing ordinance that bans roadside transactions between drivers and pedestrians — panhandling — on county roads. If approved, the amendment would add state roads to the ordinance. 
  2. Join the tonight at The Independent, for its weekly run and social event. The group gathers at 6 p.m.
  3. In its ongoing project to renovate an abandoned church into a new community and youth center, the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association is looking for 114 people to donate $12 each towards the purchase of lumber for the framing of the new floor. If you wish to help, call 813-892-8914.

  5. On this day in 1923, archeologist Howard Carter opened the tomb of Egyptian ruler King Tutankhamen. “King Tut” lived around 1400 B.C. and died as a teen.
