5 Things to Know Today

Here's Monday's roundup of events, information and trivia.

  1. No rain, but plenty of sunshine today as the high is expected to be 88 degrees. A beautiful way to start the work week!
  2. The Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market ended its second season yesterday with a surprise flash mob dance. . The market returns in October and will run through May 2012 on the second Sunday of each month.
  3. If you live in the eastern portion of Old Seminole Heights, then this is your SWEEP week! Put unwanted furniture, appliances and large fixtures on the curb for pick up by the city. Check the City of Tampa's SWEEP calendar for other upcoming neighborhoods. This week's SWEEP pickups will include the neighborhoods bordered to the north by Hillsborough River, the south by Hillsborough Avenue, the east by 22nd Street and the west by Interstate 275.
  4. Bring your little ones to the North Tampa Branch Library each Monday for the activity hour. Parents along with their infants ages 0 to 12 months may participate in a variety of fun and educational tasks that promote growth and development. Participants will enjoy games, music and storytelling.
  5. How about a little music on a Monday night? How about a lot of music? THX Mgmt and New Granada Records present a triple bill at New World Brewery of the Smoking Popes, Girl in a Coma, and Sweet Pharaohs. Advanced will-call tickets cost $12; tickets at the door are $14.
