5 Things to Know This Weekend

Here's the weekend's roundup of events and information.

SATURDAY

  • The Seminole Heights Community Gardens is hosting a on Saturday morning at the Violet Street Garden. The pot-painting class begins at 9:30 p.m. and costs just $3!
  • The Sunset Bridge Band is . Get ready to enjoy some acoustic sets with Gracie, AJ and Paul on the patio.
  • Get your dancing shoes on. The American Legion Seminole Post 111 hosts the Tampa Bay Beach Boppers, a dance club with an appreciation for "beach music," shag, bop, East Coast and West Coast swing, and jitterbug. Non-members are welcome to dance as well. The fun begins at 7:30 p.m.

SUNDAY

  • At 3 p.m., the Tampa Theatre presents "," the epic tale of Scarlett O'Hara, Rhett Butler, the tumultuous Civil War and Reconstruction Era in the South. This winner of eight Oscars stars Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, Leslie Howard, Olivia de Havilland, and Hattie McDaniel. The screening begins at 3 p.m. and the film runs nearly four hours, plus intermission.
  • The Independent presents its regular "" music event, with an open bluegrass jam from 4:30-6 p.m. followed by Cluster Pluck.
