5 Things to Know This Weekend

Here's the weekend's roundup of events, information and trivia.

  1. You're invited to an outdoor cooking class at the Seminole Heights Community Gardens, 407 W. Violet St., at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday to learn some fresh food techniques from Tiffany Ferrecchia of the Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market. Bring a chair, a note pad and a pen.
  2. The will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hillsborough High School. The festival is free and open to the public. Enjoy a book fair, arts and crafts, dancers strolling performers and several stages of storytellers.
  3. It's the final weekend for the. This weekend's theme is "Huzzah to the King," celebrating King Henry's birthday.
  4. On Saturday night, Curtis Hixon Park will be transformed into an outdoor jazz lounge for "Tampa Chillounge Night." The event will feature smooth jazz, funk jazz and R&B and will benefit the Friends of Tampa Recreation. Admission is $25 at the gate. Food vendors and cash bars will be available.
  5. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is hosting the "Pause for Pets" event at noon on Sunday at 3607 N. Armenia Ave. Come learn about the organization and what it does for animals in the coummunity. A tour will be provided with refreshments of wine and cheese.
