5 Things to Know This Weekend

Here's the weekend's roundup of events, information and trivia.

  1. We're under a high pollen count from the oak trees this weekend. While enjoying the outdoor activities in Central Tampa, consider stopping by a pharmacy for a some allergy meds so that your fun doesn't get snuffed out by sneezing.
  2. Saturday is the fifth anniversary for Tampa Clean City Day — a citywide initiative to keep the city litter free. Volunteers are needed to assist in all areas of the city. Locally, the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association is participating from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the site of its new youth and community center at the corner of Palm and Lamar avenues. After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to Raymond James Stadium for a celebration with food and live entertainment from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
  3. The Seminole Heights Bicycle Club is holding its intermediate ride Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. The 10-mile ride leaves from the Seminole Heights Garden Center and includes a coffee stop along the way.
  4. The Ybor City Saturday Market starts at 9 a.m. Saturday in Centennial Park. Bring the kids and the dog and check out the fresh veggies, prepared foods and gifts for the whole family.
  5. The Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market returns this month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature a Fit Kids Playground for families to enjoy. There also will be a cooking demonstration by local Whole Foods Chef Annalysa Khaw and massage therapy and yoga classes from Jai Dee Yoga and Wellness Studio.
