15th Annual Home Tour Scheduled for April 7

Tickets are on sale a Cleanse Apothecary, Three Coins Diner, Health Mutt and through the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association. This year, small businesses are also included.

In a few weeks, Seminole Heights will showcase one of its well-known gems: The neighborhood bungalows that dot tree-lined streets.

The 15th Annual Seminole Heights Home Tour runs from 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 7. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on tour day.

This year's tour, sponsored by the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association, features 11 homes. In addition, a handful of small businesses will be highlighted on the tour.

"For Seminole Heights, if you haven't been on the home tour, it's important for everybody to go," said Greg Curtis, co-owner of Cleanse Apothecary, one of three locations where tickets are being sold for the tour. "It's part of our history. For people new to the area, it's one year you might not want to miss it."

Sue Bingham, chair of the tour, said the purpose is to showcase the neighborhood's occupied homes and history.

Homes are chosen by a team who scout residences they think are beautiful and would suit the tour, Bingham said.

"Part of it is people who renovated a home and want people to see it, and part of it is word of mouth and neighborhood involvement," Bingham said.

Bingham hopes people attend to get in touch with the history of decades-old homes in Seminole Heights and the "vibrant and growing" business corridors.

"They get to see another part of the city they may not be familiar with," she said, "and they get a taste of what preservation is all about."
