Trader Joe's Signs Lease Near Seminole Heights

The store's officials filed paperwork earlier this year to open on Swann Avenue in South Tampa, where Shapes is located.

A few months after filing paperwork with the City of Tampa to open a Tampa Bay store, Trader Joe's has officially announced its arrival.

Officials from the specialty grocery store chain signed their lease, and are scheduled to go before the city's variance review board today to increase the size of signs near the store, which will be located where Shapes is at 3808 W. Swann Avenue, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

How specific sites are chosen for Trader Joe's stores is something company officials won't discuss, said Rachel Broderick, a customer relations specialist.

"There is definitely no perfect algorithm that determines where we will go next, but we do have a Real Estate team that works on selecting new neighborhoods that we think we will fit nicely in," said Broderick via email.
