Red Star Rock Bar Secures Parking for Seminole Heights Opening

The business is located at 5210 N. Florida Avenue.

Red Star Rock Bar is planning to open in Seminole Heights after its owners secured a lease on an adjoining vacant lot that will be used for parking.

The Florida Department of Transportation leased the property beginning this month, according to a lease agreement from FDOT for the bar, which is located off Hillsborough Avenue, a state road. After the five-year lease is completed, the property could be sold, Kris Carson, spokeswoman for FDOT, told tbo.com.

The next step? Securing permits to pave the lot, according to a story in tbo.com, followed by owner Paul Medrano showing the Tampa City Council the parking plan before a final vote on the issue on May 16.

In addition, City Council placed a ban on outdoor amplified music at the bar, located at 5210 N. Florida Avenue, after 10:30 p.m., the story said.

The business, adorned with a black and red mural on one wall, would open on a well-known strip of Seminole Heights, already populated by The Independent and Cappy's Pizza.
