When co-owners David Call and Karen Brown recently decided to part ways, emerged. Brown took her half of the business, along with the name, and decided to relocate in downtown St. Petersburg.

Call stayed behind at the 1922 storefront and converted the home furnishing décor stock to virtually all mid century modern, renamed the business A Modern Line, and re-opened Feb. 4.

So far, Call said business is “Picking up. We're getting some hits on our Facebook page. We're definitely going to be drawing a more strict modern crowd.”

Mid-century modern is Call's personal passion. And so his store's selection represents a cross section of the genre's sub species: vintage rattan, atomic age, Danish modern, and his specialty, the various modern iterations of Heywood-Wakefield.

Store hours are Wednesday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
