La Teresita Owners to Open New Project in Seminole Heights

The Capdevila family is best known for the building of the West Tampa empire known as La Teresita, but soon, the family will have a Seminole Heights location added to its legendary tale of Tampa success.

The former Seminole Heights Bakery location at 5214 North Nebraska Avenue is undergoing a makeover and is planned to reopen as "Sabroso" in the next 4-6 weeks. The large ovens of the former bakery was the biggest attraction for owners Albert and Luis Capdevila

"It will have some of the items from the La Teresita menu but we're going to be able to branch out with this project and create some new dishes that don't normally fit into the La Teresita design," Luis Capdevila said. "We like to say it's just a little remodel on the building and we'll be in there within the next month or so."

Sabroso means "delicious Cuban food" according to Capdevila whose family has wanted to extend its brand beyond the West Tampa location for years. They are excited about the prospect of a new location in Seminole Heights and believe that the area will be a good home to a new concept with authentic Cuban food at a good price.

"We looked at Seminole Heights and saw everything that is happening there and figured we could do two things at once with a bakery and restaurant in one location," Capdevila said. "It's not far from La Teresita and the location is promising. We're working with another property to increase our parking."

Sabroso will be open seven days a week and 24 hours from Thursday-Saturday.
