BGoSH President Resigns

Larry Drane steps down, citing lack of assistance from other board members.

Larry Drane has resigned as president of the Business Guild of Seminole Heights (BGoSH). Drane submitted his resignation on Tuesday in an e-mail newsletter to members, citing disappointment with other board members.

"It has become increasingly frustrating for me to function as President of BGoSH," Drane wrote. "I spend many hours just trying to convene the Board, finding meeting locations, etc. while having very little input."

Drane said his e-mails seeking consensus on issues or projects went unanswered by board members.

"For instance, the Board chose to contract for a new Web site yet has not participated in the creation of such, leaving it in limbo with the web creator," he wrote. "As chair, I did not vote in this decision and I had made it abundantly clear that I was not in favor of this expense. I am now left with trying to move this project forward with no input or follow through from anyone else."

Drane said he was still available to help in the transition but would no longer be involved in day-to-day operations of the guild. He passed the baton to Vice President Christie Hess, who is now heading the guild.

Late Wednesday evening, BGoSH Treasurer Sherry King e-mailed Patch a statement on behalf of the board: "The BGoSH Board would like to wish Larry well. We are encouraged that BGoSH has members that are committed to this organization. Several horizon projects are nearing completion. These projects have been coordinated by various members and we are grateful for the teamwork that has moved these endeavors forward. We look forward to supportive and fresh leadership to renew and continue promoting Seminole Heights, the Business District and the neighborhoods that we cherish."

The organization is currently accepting nominations for the next election of new officers to the board. All offices are open. If interested, contact elections chairman Rich Guagliardo at election@bgosh.org.
