USF Professor Discussing Oral History at Library Event

The event is on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The public is invited to a special event to kick off Our Lives, Our Legacies: The Hillsborough Black Experience. This kick off will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Library, 1505 N. Nebraska Avenue. Admission and parking are free. 

Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Libraries are in partnership with StoryCorps @your library, a national program to engage communities and expand their influence, to record and preserve the stories of Hillsborough County African-Americans.

The kick-off event for Our Lives, Our Legacies: The Hillsborough Black Experience will feature Dr. Cora Dunkley, Associate Professor at the University of South Florida, to discuss the importance of oral history and storytelling. Attendees will also hear actual snippets from StoryCorps recordings, learn more about the conversation/interview process, and have the opportunity to schedule a future oral history session.
