Local Artists Showcasing Work at Downtown Gallery

The opening reception for the show is Friday, Sept. 13.

The Life Enrichment Center Group Exhibition will be on display September 3 – October 31. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, September 13 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Dorothy Cowden, Director of Scarfone Gallery at the University of Tampa curated this year’s Life Enrichment Center Group Exhibition. Included are 31 artists working in a variety of media encompassing a wide range of subject matter.

There are also 19 Miniature Paintings on individual miniature easels being shown in the display case located at the Tampa Street entrance. For the first time this year, the Life Enrichment Center invited local florists to come in and view the exhibition, choose their favorite artwork and interpret it in a floral arrangement. Their floral creations will be on display next to the artworks and then raffled off during the opening reception on Friday, September 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at TECO Public Art Gallery, 702 N. Franklin St. in downtown Tampa.

The reception is free and open to the public. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar. Forever Moving dancers will do interpretive dance performances based on artworks they have chosen and Dave Mankes will provide music for the event.

The adult artists who attend classes at the Center range in age from 40 to 90. The Life Enrichment Center serves as a creative outlet to many people in our community-offering them a chance to learn and practice a new art form, write their memoirs or remain physically active by taking a dance or tai-chi class. More than 40 academic, creative and wellness classes are offered at the non-profit center.
