Get Out: Weekend Events Preview Feb. 17-19
The Krewe of the Knights of Sant' Yago Knight Parade highlights this weekend's events, but there's plenty else happening.

Exhibit: "Hearts and Flowers: Victorian Valentines"
Where/When: Henry B. Plant Museum, 401 W Kennedy Blvd, today, 10 a.m.
Why go: Our Victorian palace has a new exhibit featuring a collection of antique valentines from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Samples of this treasured paper ephemera will be on display through February 27th. Themes often included pictures of children and cherubs, cupids and arrows, hearts, forget-me-nots, lush cabbage roses, bits of lace, feathers, seashells and dried flowers - all intertwined with sentimental messages.
Price: $10 for adults; $7 for seniors and students; $5 for children ages 4 to 12
Rachmaninoff’s "Piano Concerto No. 2"

Why go: Orchestra and guest pianist Valentina Lisitsa present Rachmaninoff's romantic "Piano Concerto No. 2," along with Nielsen's "Helios" Overture and Sibelius' "Symphony No. 1."

Comedy: The Improvised Shakespeare Company

Why go: Expect a completely improvised play in Elizabethan style with the language and themes of William Shakespeare from this off-the-cuff troupe.

Tampa Heights Community and Youth Center Workday
Where/when: Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association, 602 E Palm Ave, Saturday, 8:30 a.m.

Seminole Heights Bicycle Club Long Ride
Where/when: Seminole Heights Garden Center, 5800 N Central Ave, Saturday, 8:30 a.m.
Why go: We require helmets be worn on all rides - please check that your bike is in good riding condition - tires properly inflated, brakes working well. Long Ride - Intermediate and Advanced On the third Saturday of each month, this ride leaves promptly at 8:30am from the Seminole Heights Garden Center - a wonderful ride through neighborhoods, along waterfronts and urban areas with various terrain.
We have two groups you can ride with: Intermediate: A moderately-paced ride, between 10-14 mph, covering about 18 miles. We make our roundabout way to Davis Islands, ride the perimeter and stop at a coffee shop on the island before heading back through Central Tampa. A very scenic ride that varies from leisurely to the opportunity to practice (or learn) urban riding skills. The ride leader will pace the ride according to the level of riders present on each ride.
Advanced: This group is for the somewhat more advanced rider, keeps a faster pace around 16-20 mph with no scheduled stops, covering 25-30 miles.

Why go: Foodies are sure to enjoy this "electrifying, palate-pleasing, downtown culinary event celebration showcasing the talents of renowned vintners, spirits producers, area chefs and international culinary personalities," organizers say.
VIP entry is from 12pm to 1pm. General admission opens from 1pm to 4pm.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High Hosts Open House

Why go: Brooks DeBartolo will host an open house for all prospective students and their families. Learn about the school, the plans to move to a new campus and receive a tour of our current building.

"Rockabilly Ruckus" 2012 Concert

Why go: Skipper’s Smokehouse and WMNF (88.5 FM) present a lineup of rockabilly music sure to get you dancing. Performers include Morgan Bernard, the Rockabilly Chicks, the Hot Rod Hornets, the Ted Stevens Band, Twisty Chris and the Puddin' Packs, Rocket 88, Amy LaVere, Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys, and Lee Rocker.

Classic Film Series: "The Black Pirate" with Costume Parade
Where/when: 711 N Franklin St, Tampa, Sunday, 3 p.m.
Why go: The Tampa Theatre presents a restored 35mm print of the 1926 silent Douglas Fairbanks film. Steven Ball performs on the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ as musical accompaniment. Dress in costume inspired by the movie and be invited to join the on-stage parade before the film.

Glitz & Sticks Presented by the Tampa Bay Lightning Players
Where/when: 401 Channelside Dr, Sunday, 6 p.m.
Why go: This year’s 10th annual Glitz & Sticks: A Celebrity Casino Evening is hosted by the Tampa Bay Lightning Players and benefits the Tampa General Hospital Children’s Medical Center and the Lightning Foundation. As in previous years, Glitz & Sticks attendees will enjoy casino games, dancing, entertainment, distinct auctions, gourmet dining and more.
That is not all though, as this year’s event will feature a number of new interactive experiences that will allow fans to get even more up close and personal with Lightning players, coaches and personalities.
Ever wonder if you could hang on the ping pong table with Marty St. Louis? Beat Victor Hedman at foosball? Those are just two of the newest experiences available at this year’s Glitz & Sticks. There will also be air hockey and a photo booth. Auctions will also be enhanced this year as guests can use electronic eBidders to make and monitor their bids. This year’s event will be hosted by former Lightning captain and 2004 Stanley Cup Champion Dave Andreychuk, current vice president of fans and business development.
The event will kick off with the DEX Imaging Patron’s Party from 5-6 p.m. for event sponsors with Lightning players, coaches and staff. At 6 p.m. the doors will open to general ticket holders. Dress is formal or cocktail, and parking information will be emailed after ticket purchase.
Glitz & Sticks is the annual signature event put on by the Lightning Foundation, dedicated to investing its resources and leadership for the enrichment of the people of Tampa Bay, focusing on meeting basic human needs and enhancing lives.
Base sponsorships are available starting at $5,000 and include 10 tickets to attend the DEX Imaging Patron’s Party and Glitz and Sticks, name or company logo on all casino games and special recognition on printed and digital materials. Individual tickets are available for $200 and include food, drink, and player interaction experiences.
