Arts Academy Launches in Seminole Heights

Common Ground Christian Church will offer private lessons and band workshops for students of all ages of skill levels.

is launching the Common Ground Academy of the Arts.   

Beginning this fall with music lessons, CGAA aims to offer a comprehensive arts curriculum, which will include dance, drama, visual arts, spoken word and recording arts. The church is located at 4207 N. Boulevard.

Lessons will be offered in guitar, bass, piano, woodwinds, brass, and strings for students regardless of experience and skill level. Academy students will study classical, jazz, and other popular genres in private lessons specifically tailored to their level, age, and learning style.

Directed by Stan Wilkerson, the academy faculty members are experienced leaders in their fields, who strive to expand themselves musically, intellectually, and pedagogically. These qualified music instructors are committed to providing valuable and stimulating learning experiences for all students. They are also some of the most skilled and sought-after players in the Bay area and beyond.

Private instruction consists of one 30-minute lesson per week (45 or 60 minute lessons for advanced students may be available). During the academic year, each student is scheduled to receive 24 private lessons (12 per semester). 

Band workshops and ensembles will be based upon enrollment.  In keeping with the mission of CGAA, fees are kept at a very reasonable rate in order to serve as many in the community as possible.  Instruction fee is $20 per 30-minute lesson, and is due one month in advance.

Launched in September of 2007, Common Ground Christian Church is a multi-ethnic church in the urban corridor of Tampa. Other community impact initiatives connected with Common Ground are Sports & Arts Camp a free camp for local kids, Backpack Attack Tampa, Fall Festival in partnership with Broward Elementary, and hosting groups for local urban mission trips.
