What Would You Improve in Seminole Heights in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Seminole Heights, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Seminole Heights to make it an even better place to live?

Would you secure grant money for community programs? Campaign for repair of roads, or less construction? Find ways to decrease the crime rate?

What is on your Seminole Heights wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog about why you love living here!

The best this in 2013 Would be if the City of Tampa's Administration Would change the process of Code and Zoning Enforcement in all neighborhoods as well as Seminole Height The history of over 20 years and more, proves that the process is not effective

I've always thought the one way system onto Highlands is just plain stupid. Businesses below Highlands lose potential passing trade because traffic passes before businesses are open and after they're closed. Consequently Florida Avenue below Nicko's is a neglected wasteland - some more trees and landscaping would be nice too. And if only the "Praise Cathedral" could be come an entertainment venue again (music/film/theater) - even though there's nowhere to park! Bottom line, I really think the City couldn't give a damn about local business, all they do is look at what they can TAKE financially and not what they can DO to help local business owners prosper.

I feel that S.H. needs a gym. Like a YouFit or another chain fitness get up. I also agree that more landscaping and trees [palm trees] would help improve the area. When a community looks nicer, 'nicer' people are more drawn to it. Maybe how they scaped south Tampa and Kennedy Blvd by adding palms and scrubs in the medians.

PLEASE do something with the old Seminole Theater on Florida Ave and Wilder. It is such an eyesore and could be restored as a local theater or recreational building. I don't know who currently owns it but perhaps the city could purchase the building and make good use of it for the community.

These are great comments. They're also great ideas for things that Patch can look at in 2013. What else?
