Viewfinder: Seminole Heights 100th Birthday Party

Families, friends and neighbors gathered on Saturday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the greater Seminole Heights neighborhood.

The Greater Seminole Heights Neighborhood turns 100 this year. On Saturday, residents came together to celebrate the milestone at the .

All four of the area's major neighborhood and civic organizations in Seminole Heights took part in organizing the event, which featured children's games, face painting, free birthday cake, live music and booths for various neighborhood clubs.

In addition, staff from the neighborhood's famed and popular were on hand to sell good eats.

Volunteers from the told stories to the children, and families had a chance to meet members of the Tampa Police Department's canine unit and bomb squad.

Tampa City Councilman Mike Suarez read a proclamation from the city declaring Saturday as "Seminole Heights Day."
