Spot a Low-Flying Helicopter? Don't Fret

The helicopters will be flying around for the next few days, officials say.

If you see a low-flying helicopter near Tampa Electric's equipment this week, don't be alarmed.

The company is doing aerial surveys of transmission equipment to meet federal reliability standards, according to company spokeswoman Cherie L. Jacobs.

Work began at 9 a.m. today, and will continue for two days during business hours, if the weather permits, Jacobs said.

The helicopters will fly between 200 and 800 feet above the ground photographing and surveying rights of way and equipment, Jacobs said.
