Restaurant Group Awards $12,000 Grant to Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels of Tampa provides hot meals to more than 700 home-bound residents.

More home-bound Tampa residents will be able to enjoy a hot lunch, thanks to a $12,000 grant from Darden Restaurants.

Darden Restaurants, which include Bahama Breeze, Capital Grille, Red Lobster, Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse, awarded the second annual Restaurant Community Grant to Meals on Wheels of Tampa.

Now in its 37th year, Meals on Wheels of Tampa, headquartered at 550 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, delivers hot lunches to more than 700 home-bound residents each weekday.

“Our employees are incredibly passionate about the communities where they live, and our restaurant teams are in a position to understand and help address the needs of their communities,” said Drew Madsen, Darden Restaurants’ president and chief operating officer.

In Tampa Bay, 12 Darden restaurants pooled their individual $1,000 grants to provide the $12,000 contribution to Meals on Wheels of Tampa.
