In a few days, bus riding from Seminole Heights to places around Tampa Bay will take on a new life.
The "OneBusAway" Tampa application from HART launches on Aug. 19, making Tampa third behind Seattle and New York in allowing riders to track buses and their estimated arrival times.
The application can be used on a computer, tablet or smartphone, and uses GPS technology to track the buses down.
Dustin Lemke, who rides HART to get around town, tested the app in a pilot program, according to a HART news release.
"The OneBusAway Tampa app really helps me plan my time more wisely," said Lemke. "When you can't see the bus, and it's running a few minutes late, you start to think you've missed the bus and then will be late for work, and think your whole day is ruined. But this app helps keep me calm and knowledgeable about what's going on."
