OSHNA Needs Volunteers for Home Tour

The Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association could use some help for its 2012 Old Seminole Heights Home Tour on April 1.

Long established as one of the biggest and best run home tours in the city, the Old Seminole Heights Home Tour doesn't happen by itself. The Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association has begun preparations for the April 1 event, and is now asking for volunteers.

OSHNA home tour chairperson Cathy Simon says the 14th annual tour could use 25 to 50 volunteers, for posts like parking attendants at the event's main lot at Seminole Heights Garden Center, ticket sellers, house attendents, trolley passenger loaders, and trolley attendents, or "trolley wenches" as they're referred to by home tour insiders.

Per tradition, Simon said OSHNA is looking for 10 homes to feature on the tour. Guests purchase tickets at the garden center, grab a brochure with tour map, and either board a trolley to run the tour route, or set out on their own for a self-guided tour.

Simon is also looking for a non-profit organization to sell food and drink at the garden center, sponsors and advertizers, and those interested in submitting their home for consideration for the home tour. E-mail hometour@oldseminoleheights.org.
