Health Clinic Opening Soon In Sulphur Springs

Tampa Family Health Centers newest location is nearing completion on Nebraska Avenue.

The newest location of Tampa Family Health Centers is tentatively scheduled to open April 1 in Sulphur Springs, according to the nonprofit company's chief financial officer Edward Kucher. 

The 15,000-square-foot, $4.5 million clinic is situated between the and the Tampa Greyhound Track, at 8108 N. Nebraska Ave. TFHC chief operating officer David Bonham said the facility will encompass family medicine, pediatric and dental practices. A pharmacy will open on site "when we build our patient base up," Bonham said, likely within a month or two of opening. 

TFHC operates 12 other facilities around Hillsborough County, each situated in underserved communities. "The need is there," said Bonham as to why Sulphur Springs was chosen for the new location. "There's a high population of the medically underserved there. Many of the residents either don't have jobs, or if they have jobs with medical coverage, they can't afford the premiums."

TFHC accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, or charges patients based on an-income adjusted sliding scale. 

TFHC board members and local government officials, including State Rep. Janet Cruz and U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, were on hand for the .

Kucher said clinic hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, pharmacy hours 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. He added that Saturday 8 to 5 hours may be added if demand dictates.
