Grab & Go Kids Planner: Top 5 Family Picks for the Week

Check out all the things to do with kids this week in the Central Tampa area.

Juggling your responsibilities, and entertaining the kids is no easy task. Seminole Heights Patch is coming to the rescue, with the top five family-friendly activities in the area.

  • Where/When: North Tampa Branch Library, 8916 N. Boulevard. Wednesday at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Teens will enjoy a variety of games on the Nintendo Wii system and show off their "Wii-mote" skills with friends! Game titles include "Guitar Hero," "Dance Dance Revolution," and "Rock Band."
  • Pricing: Free!

Dr. Seuss Can Cook!

  • Where/When: Glazer Children's Museum, 110 W. Gasparilla Plaza. Wednesdays at 1 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Kids are invited to the Glazer's My House, Your House exhibit for a hands-on snack making class. Participants will learn to make an array of delicious treats with a Dr. Seuss theme. Green eggs and ham, anyone?
  • Pricing: Adults $15, Kids $9.50

Harlem Globetrotters 2011 World Tour

  •  Where/When: St. Pete Times Forum,  401 Channelside Dr. Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: The world famous Harlem Globetrotters will stop in Tampa this weekend on their 85th Annual Tour. Hold on to the edge of your seat as these high-energy athletes perform tricks, show off some fancy foot work, and more. If you and your family love basketball, you will not want to miss this show. Featured Globetrotters include, "Buckets Blakes," "Slick Willie Shaw," "Scooter Christiensen," and "Handles Franklin."
  • Price: Tickets are $15 to $106.

  • Where/When: United Skates of America, 5121 N. Armenia Ave. Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Spend some quality time with your loved ones after the busy work and school week without breaking your wallet. Families will enjoy unlimited pizza, salad and spins around the rink with the latest Top 40s, pop and rock music. 
  • Pricing: $10 per person, $4 for non-skating parents. $2 skate rentals.

Picnic in the Park

  • Where/When:  Henry B. Plant Museum, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd. Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
  • Why Go: Relaxation, food, music and games are all on tap for the Henry B. Plant museum's picnic in the park event. Round up the family with snacks, lawn chairs and other items to prepare for a calm day beneath the sun. The event will feature popular games such ass chess and dominoes, boat rides along the Hillsborough River, and live music by a number of local soloists and bands. 
  • Pricing: $1 per person.
