GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview April 5-7

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Seminole Heights area.

It's Thursday and you have no weekend plans. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit.

Seminole Heights Home Tour

The 15th annual Seminole Heights Home Tour will take place Sunday, April 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The tour will feature restored historic homes along with two businesses in the historic district. The $15 tickets are available at Cleanse Apothecary, 5127 N. Florida Ave., Tampa.

Seminole Heights Relay for Life

The Seminole Heights Relay for Life will begin Friday, April 5 at Hillsborough High School and run through noon, Saturday, April 6. Team members will walk around the track while teammates sell refreshments and other items to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Opening Art Reception

The Tempus Projects, 5132 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, will host an opening reception for artist Theo Wujcik's exhibit Friday, April 5 from 6 to 10 p.m. The free event will feature light hors d'oeuvres. 

SOS Grand Opening

SOS, 6502 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, will host a grand opening celebration Saturday, April 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be food, supplement samples and specials on training packages and new client memberships.

Salute to Tampa Bay Comic Con

The Culture and Thrills Collectibles Gallery, 5205 N. Florida Ave., tampa, will host an open house and display of rare comic books as a salute to the Tampa Bay Comic Con Saturday, April 6 from 5 to 9 p.m., following the convention at the Doubletree Hotel in Tampa.

Saturday Social

Cold Storage Craft Brewery, 4101 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, will host the Seminole Heights Saturday Social Saturday, April 6 from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will feature art, food, craft beer and music by Skull & Bone Band and Shoeless Soul. Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 the day of the show.

Women's Brew Day

Southern Brewing and Winemaking, 4500 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, will host Women's Brew Day Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Women will have a chance to brew beer, participate in raffles and meet celebrity women brewers.

Concussion Seminar

Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department's Athletic Services in partnership with USF's S.M.A.R.T. Institute will present a free concussion seminar Saturday, April 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. at All People's Life Center, 6105 E. Sligh Ave., Tampa. The seminar will discuss the dangers of concussions and second impact syndrome for youth and adult athletes.  

Bicycle Club Ride

The Seminole Heights Bicycle Club will host a 6-mile ride Saturday, April 6 starting at 8:30 a.m. at 1016 E. Clifton St., Tampa.

Live Music at Ella's

Each Friday at 10 p.m., local musicians perform live on the Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe stage, 5119 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa.

Community Garden Workday

Everyone is welcome to come to the Seminole Heights Community Garden, 407 W. Violet St., Tampa, each Saturday at 9 a.m. to lend a hand with the garden.

Dog Pack Walk

Dog owners are invited to gather for a leisurely walk and social time each Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Henry and Ola Park, 502 W. Henry Ave., Tampa.

Fitness Class

A fitness class will be held Saturday, March 30 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the outdoor stage at Lowry Park 7525 N. Boulevard, Tampa. The cost is $1.

Karaoke Night

American Legion Seminole Post 111 invites the public to have an evening singing along with karaoke each Saturday at 8 p.m. at the post, 6918 N. Florida Ave., Tampa.

Bingo

American Legion Seminole Post 111 hosts bingo every Sunday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the post, 6918 N. Florida Ave., Tampa.

Chillounge Night

The fourth annual Chillounge Night, the ultimate outdoor lounge party, will take place April 6 starting at 7 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N. Ashley Dr., Tampa. Benefitting the Friends of Tampa Recreation Inc., the event will feature live music by Gumbi Ortiz with his New Groove City Band, a fashion show by Dona Crowley with Luxe Fashion Group, hard rock tunes by Tampa DJ Chris Craze,  food vendors and cash bars. General admission tickets are $25.
