GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview April 26-28

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Seminole Heights area.

Hillsborough High Spring Concert

Hillsborough High School, 5000 N. Central Ave., Tampa, will host its spring band and orchestra concert Friday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5.

Historic Homes Workshop

Tampa Preservation Inc. will host a Historic Homes Workshop Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 1706 W. Cypress St., Tampa. There will be local experts on hand to discuss various aspects of renovating and restoring historic homes.

Nonprofit Volunteer Fair

Connect for a Difference Nonprofit Volunteer Fair will take place Saturday. April 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the USF Marshall Student Center Ballroom, 4103 Cedar Circle, Tampa. The fair will highlight more than 45 Tampa Bay nonprofit groups.

Healthy Kids Day

The YMCA's Healthy Kids Day will take place Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N. Ashley St., Tampa. The free event will feature active play and educational activities, such as bounce houses, fitness demonstrations, arts and crafts, water safety tips, healthy snacks and sports giveaways, as well as appearances by professional athletes and well-known mascots.

Harbour Island Arts Fest

The Harbour Island Art Walk will take place Sunday, April 28 from noon to 5 p.m. at 800 Harbour Post Dr., Tampa. It will feature artists, live music, food and drinks and a free kid's art activity area.

Dino Nites

Lowry Park Zoo will host Dino Nites Friday and Saturday night. Visits will enjoy the DinoQuest 2 exhibit featuring 22 life-like and life-size dinosaurs, along with zoo rides and select restaurants and shops for $9.95.

Sunday Morning Meditation

The Florida Community of Mindfulness, 6501 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, hosts meditation and Buddhist teachings with Fred Eppsteiner each Sunday at 10 a.m.

Live Music at Ella's

Each Friday at 10 p.m., local musicians perform live on the Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe stage, 5119 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa.

Community Garden Workday

Everyone is welcome to come to the Seminole Heights Community Garden, 407 W. Violet St., Tampa, each Saturday at 9 a.m. to lend a hand with the garden.

Dog Pack Walk

Dog owners are invited to gather for a leisurely walk and social time each Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Henry and Ola Park, 502 W. Henry Ave., Tampa.

Karaoke Night

American Legion Seminole Post 111 invites the public to have an evening singing along with karaoke each Saturday at 8 p.m. at the post, 6918 N. Florida Ave., Tampa.

Bingo

American Legion Seminole Post 111 hosts bingo every Sunday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the post, 6918 N. Florida Ave., Tampa.

Weekend Workout

Tyree's Fitness offers sports conditioning and functional training for all ages each Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Rivercrest Park, 4802 N. River Blvd., Tampa.

Fitness Class

A fitness class will be held Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the outdoor stage at Lowry Park 7525 N. Boulevard, Tampa. The cost is $1.
