GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview April 19-21

It's Thursday and you have no weekend plans. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit.

Piano Jazz

Jazz vocalist Denise Moore and pianist Billy Marcus will perform Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m. at Domani Bistro and Lounge, 6419 N. Florida Ave., Tampa.

Third Saturdays

Head to Cold Storage Craft Brewery, 4101 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, Saturday, April 20 from 2 to 9 p.m. for Third Saturdays in Seminole Heights. There will be food trucks, live music and craft beer tastings.

Sunday Dinner

There will be a Sunday dinner April 21 from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. at the German American Club, 6111 N. Rome Ave., Tampa. The cost is $8 for spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs, bread, salad, dessert, coffee and iced tea.

Hot Dogs and Bloody Marys

There will be free hot dogs and $2 bloody marys at the American Legion Seminole Post 111, 6918 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, Sunday, April 21 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Race for Sight

More than 1,000 runners are expected to participate in the 5K Race for Sight Saturday, April 20 at 6:30 a.m. at Centennial Park in Ybor City, 1600 E. 8th Ave., Tampa. Proceeds will benefit the Ybor City-based Lions Lions Eye Institute Foundation to make corneal transplants possible and to support the  visually impaired.

Take Back the Night

Sunday, April 21, the Sexual Violence Task Force of Tampa Bay, in collaboration with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, will host Take Back the Night, an interactive event that creates awareness, empowers survivors and educates the community about sexual violence. The event at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 700 N. Ashley St., Tampa, will kick off at 4 p.m. with a music fest and resource and children's fair. At 6 p.m., there will be a ceremony, march and a men's pledge to stop the violence. The evening will conclude at 7 p.m. with a candlelight vigil.

Creative Loafing Birthday Bash

Join Creative Loafing in celebrating 25 years of publishing in Tampa Bay with live music from Zulu Wave Dynasty, Types, The Dead Popes, art, signature cocktails, cake and more. The event will take place at The Ritz Ybor, 1503 E. 7th Ave., Ybor City. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

Earth Day Celebration

The Tampa Heights Community Garden will celebrate Earth Day Sunday, April 21 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the garden, 605 E. Frances Ave., Tampa. There will be grilled chicken or a meatless entree, homemade side dishes and a drink for $8 for adults or $5 for garden members or children. Desserts will be sold separately. There will be music and games, garden tours, earth-friendly vendors, educational displays and workshops as well.

Riverside Heights Garage Sale

The Riverside Heights community will host a garage sale at 1001-1009 W. Adalee St., Tampa, Saturday, April 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Intermediate Bike Ride

The Seminole Heights Bicycle Club will host an intermediate ride Saturday, April 20 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Seminole Heights Garden Center, 5800 N. Central Ave., Tampa. The pace is moderate (ranging from 10-16 mph), the routes average 10 miles roundtrip and usually includes a stop at a coffee shop along the way or at the end.

Sunday Morning Meditation

The Florida Community of Mindfulness, 6501 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, hosts meditation and Buddhist teachings with Fred Eppsteiner each Sunday at 10 a.m.

Live Music at Ella's

Each Friday at 10 p.m., local musicians perform live on the Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe stage, 5119 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa.

Community Garden Workday

Everyone is welcome to come to the Seminole Heights Community Garden, 407 W. Violet St., Tampa, each Saturday at 9 a.m. to lend a hand with the garden.

Dog Pack Walk

Dog owners are invited to gather for a leisurely walk and social time each Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Henry and Ola Park, 502 W. Henry Ave., Tampa.

Karaoke Night

American Legion Seminole Post 111 invites the public to have an evening singing along with karaoke each Saturday at 8 p.m. at the post, 6918 N. Florida Ave., Tampa.

Bingo

American Legion Seminole Post 111 hosts bingo every Sunday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the post, 6918 N. Florida Ave., Tampa.

Weekend Workout

Tyree's Fitness offers sports conditioning and functional training for all ages each Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Rivercrest Park, 4802 N. River Blvd., Tampa.

Fitness Class

A fitness class will be held Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the outdoor stage at Lowry Park 7525 N. Boulevard, Tampa. The cost is $1.
