Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. Hosts Free Laundry Project

– Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. volunteers usually spend the day washing and drying clothes at one local Laundromat but on Saturday, April 7, they will serve at two locations, helping to wash the clothes of deserving families in Tampa. Laundry Love Projects will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Big Wash Coin Laundry located at 908 E. Waters Ave. Tampa, FL 33604 and Big Wash College Hill located at 3610 N. 29th St. Tampa, FL 33605.

The Laundry Love Project assists low-income families with meeting a basic need – washing and drying clothes. “Easter is an important holiday for many as it draws family and friends together for the weekend. Unfortunately, some people will be too embarrassed to spend time with those closest to them due to a common yet overlooked issue-no clean clothing. Current is here to provide a helping hand to those who need it. We want as many families as possible to be able to have their clothes and linens washed and dried for free and to have a memorable Easter. We also invite anyone who is interested in providing assistance to these families to volunteer,” said Current’s Founder/President Jason Sowell.

“Current is thankful for the much needed community support for these projects as we continue to serve families in Tampa Bay. We are encouraged by the number of organizations that are assisting us to provide free laundry services for deserving families,” said Sowell. Current volunteers traveled to Brooksville last weekend and were able to wash more than 130 loads of laundry for local residents.

Local sponsors for the Easter Weekend Laundry Love Projects include Strategic Applications Group (SAG), Reality Church Tampa, Starbucks (Tampa District) and Big Wash Coin Laundry.

The Laundry Love Projects always seeks donations of quarters (rolls of $10), coloring books, crayons, laundry baskets and laundry detergent. Donations can be brought to the event on the morning of April 7 or contact Jason Sowell at 727.537.9082.  More information about this event can be found online at www.LaundryByCurrent.org.
