Local nonprofits with a need to spread the word about what they do are invited to enter a contest that will provide 11 local charities with a month-long public relations makeover.
Sponsored by National Strategies Public Relations in Tampa, the contest is open to any Bay area nonprofit that wants to grab a little bit of the limelight, according to Jennifer Vickery, the public relations firm’s president and chief executive officer.
“We want to give our all to charities doing great things,” Vickery said. “It’s part of NSPR’s mission and vision to help the organizations doing great things continue to keep serving our community and we are excited to get started.”
The Charity Adoption contest is open to all nonprofit organizations in Hillsborough, Pasco and surrounding counties, provided they meet a few basic requirements. Charities must have official nonprofit status, be local in their focus and be located in Tampa Bay.
To enter, a nonprofit needs only to submit a 200-word essay to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight on Jan. 18.
“Winners will receive media relations and coordination with all media outlets in Tampa Bay,” Vickery said. “We will aim at getting major media attention, community attention and help them with a makeover of their ideas.”
A total of 11 winners will be selected from the entries. National Strategies Public Relations will focus on one winner a month from February through December 2013 to provide free services.
