Coalition to Host Annual GaYBOR Days Celebration This Weekend

The GaYBOR District Coalition is gearing up for its annual GaYBOR Celebration this weekend.

The three-day event features parties and other events at nightclubs, restaurants and other businesses throughout Historic Ybor City.

The celebration kicks off Friday, May 24 at 7 p.m. with Movie Night at Muvico Centro Ybor, featuring "Red Lodge," filmed by award-winning director Dan Steadman in Ybor City. Tickets are $7.

Prior to the film, County Commissioner Kevin Beckner and other local officials will present proclamations to the coalition, kicking off the celebration.

The fun continues Friday at Hamburger Mary's, 1600 E. 8th Ave., with drag shows at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. starring Alaska ThunderF*** and featuring Daphne, ChiChi and Kathryn.

The Saturday Night All-Star Drag Revue with special guest Alyssa Edwards will take place Saturday at 8 and 10:30 p.m. at Hamburger Mary's and on Sunday, May 26 at 8:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. Hamburger Mary's will host Ru Paul's Drag Race Invasion with Alyssa Edwards Coco and Roxxxy.

Also on Sunday, May 26 at 11:30 p.m. and 1:15 a.m., Bradley's on 7th, 1510 E. 7th Ave., will host a Drag Extravaganza with Joey Brooks, Esme Russell, Mercedes Devereaux and Summer Alexander along with Bradley's Male Dancers on the Bar.

At the Honey Pot, 1507 E. 7th Ave., party lovers can enjoy "The Girlie Show," a Burlesque show with Big Momma and her Dixie Land Band and a side show of eight international circus stars. Shows will take place Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. There is limited seating so reservations are suggested.

Also Sunday, May 26, the Honey Pot will host the Tampa Bay White Party with Grammy-nominated producer Dave Aude and a live performance by Vassy. From 10 to 11 p.m., visitors can enjoy $1 drinkers with proceeds going to the coalition.
