Neighborhood associations have until Aug. 12 to submit applications to Hillsborough County.

Mini-grants worth up to $2,500 for neighborhood projects such as crime watch programs and landscaping are available to neighborhood associations in Tampa that apply by 5 p.m. Aug. 12.

The 2012 mini-grants are awarded through Hillsborough County’s Office of Neighborhood Relations. Projects that have won grant money in the past also included playground equipment, community festivals, community websites and newsletters, and children’s programs.

Applications are available at www.hillsboroughcounty.org/onr/minigrant.

To apply, an association representative must first view an orientation video and sign a Training Video Verification Form acknowledging he or she watched the tutorial. (The form can be filled out and submitted online.) Applications not accompanied by the form will not be accepted. The video and form are also available at the website.

The video reviews the application, grant criteria, projects that qualify for the mini-grant, and the scoring process.
