Annual Elderly Affairs Day in Old Seminole Heights Set for Today

The event will feature door prizes, food, music and live entertainment at the Oaks at Riverview Community and Senior Center.

Hillsborough County will celebrate and honor our community’s senior citizens during Older Americans Month in May.

Since 1963, communities across the nation have joined in the annual commemoration of Older Americans Month to recognize the value that older adults continue to bring to society.

This year’s theme is "Never Too Old To Play," and encourages our seniors to stay engaged, active and involved in their own lives and in their communities.

Studies show lifelong participation in social, creative and physical activities has proven health benefits, including retaining mobility, muscle mass, and cognitive abilities.

Oaks at Riverview Community and Senior Center located at 101 E. Kirby St. in Old Seminole Heights will host an Annual Elderly Affairs Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 10.

The event, co-sponsored by Hillsborough County Aging Services and Tampa Housing Authority, will be day of fun for seniors, including door prizes, food, music and live entertainment.
