SWFBUD Bicycle Bash Kick-off Party at SWFBUD Shop Velo Champ Brings Officials and Bicyclists Together

Bicyclists enjoy meeting Hillsborough County Commissioner Mark Sharpe, Tampa Councilman Frank Reddick and Tampa Transportation Director Jean Duncan at Bicycle Bash Kick-off Party.

It's not often your city transportation director is hanging out at a local bicycle shop in Tampa to chat with bicyclists but there was Jean Duncan talking with folks from Tampa and all over Tampa Bay during last night's Bicycle Bash kickoff party.

This year,  SWFBUD -- the Tampa Bay alliance of nine bicycle shops and three lawyers -- is moving the Bicycle Bash into downtown Tampa on NOV 4. SWFBUD held the announcement party at SWFBUD member store Velo Champ in Seminole Heights.

Duncan outlined the city of Tampa's commitment to growing bicycling and was joined by Hillsborough County Commissioner Mark Sharpe and Tampa Councilman Frank Reddick, whose district includes downtown where the Bicycle Bash will be held at Contanchobee Park on NOV. 4.

Steve and Laura Toll of ISM bike saddles also attended because the ISM bike seat company out of Lutz is the Bicycle Bash's presenting sponsor and the city of Tampa is a co-sponsor.

SWFBUD wants to thank Jean for spending more than two hours at the Bash kick-off party to chat with residents about the event. More info here at www.swfbud.blogspot.com here: http://swfbud.blogspot.com/2012/07/swfbud-celebrates-moving-bicycle-bash.html

At last night's event, Cold Storage supplied beer, Mikey's supplied sandwiches, Papa John's supplied pizza, Buddy Brew supplied coffee and Carl at Microgroove supplied music. SWFBUD thanks them for their donations last night.

Yes, Page--I love the idea of a little fresh foods market...prepared foods, produce...it would be soRead More nice to have a place to walk to with the kids in the late afternoon, pick up a snack and some veggies for that night's dinner...a place with outdoor seating that would be a neighborhood gathering spot. A place that would become a 3x a week stop for neighbors, a place people enjoy "running up" to. I'm excited to see what happens!

I would love to see a small market in the neighborhood also. With fresh produce, and other basicRead More necessities for cooking, that you might have just run out of or forgot to pick up when you did your weekly shopping. Plus a nice selection of wine. Circle K has a good selection of beer, but there isn't a good selection of wines in the neighborhood for takeaway.

I would like to see another Family Dollar. One on every corner is not enough.
