Buildings Alive! Architectural Hop through Ybor City

2205 N 20th St, Ybor City, FL | Get Directions »
$20.00

Gain access to Ybor City's 10+ most iconic buildings. Tours will reveal history about each building, and how it is being preserved, restored and repurposed.

"A total of 84 buildings in Ybor City, Tampa’s National Historic Landmark District, are currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places," notes Elizabeth McCoy, YCMS Curator. "Additionally, 956 buildings were deemed of historic significance in 1990, making Ybor City the largest collection of cigar-related buildings in the world," she continues.  Each building has unique stories that are meant to be shared, along with their distinctive architectural styles.

"Buildings Alive! provides a chance to gain access to some of Ybor City's most iconic buildings, once used as cigar factories, mutual aid societies, social clubs, breweries, medical clinics, and cigar workers' homes," comments Chantal Hevia, YCMS President.

Tours and clues to the scavenger hunt will reveal "insider information" about each building and how they are being preserved, restored and repurposed.

Enjoy food and beverages as you tour some of Ybor City's most beautifully restored historic buildings, each with its own architectural style and unique story.  Join the fun by participating in a scavenger hunt with prizes.

The starting point for Buildings Alive! is at either Stantec (2205 N. 20th St., Tampa) or the Ybor City Museum State Park (1818 E. 9th Ave, Tampa).
