Enjoy free birthday cake, storytelling, face-painting, kids' games and a piñata, soft golf, a Seminole Heights documentary and live music by Genghis Flan.   “Haute!” will spotlight contributions that accessory designers make to the fashion industry and feature the unique and creative works of selected accessory designers. This inaugural event will take place at 7 p.m. Friday night at The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts located in the heart of downtown Tampa.
This Saturday morning, Lowry Park Zoo presents its 9th annual Zoo Run Run, a 5K run/walk that winds through the zoo and along the Hillsborough River. Children can enter a special "fun run" that follows the regular race. Entry fee includes zoo admission for the race and a T-shirt, while supplies last. Please note: Strollers are permitted in the 5K walk but not in the 5K run. It's time to get your groove on! WMNF 88.5 presents Groovefest 2 at 2 p.m. Sunday at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road. The event will showcase the area's best jam bands, including Bobby Lee Rodgers, Cope, The Groves, Funky Seeds and 3rd Stone. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
Get ready for a night of good music, good people and good fun at Gram's Place Inn — a hostel located at 3109 N. Ola Ave. in Tampa Heights. Saturday night's host band, Parson Brown, welcomes two other Florida acts to the inn's BYOB Parson's Pub in the courtyard: the duo of Something Special and the Americana roots band Unpainted Souls. As part of the Summer Classics movie series, the Tampa Theatre presents two showings of "The Wizard of Oz" this weekend, complete with lyrics printed onscreen so the audience can sing along. On the third Saturday of each month, the Seminole Heights Bicycle Club Long Ride leaves promptly at 8:30 a.m. from the Seminole Heights Garden Center. It's a wonderful ride through neighborhoods, waterfronts and urban areas with various terrain. Helmets must be worn on all rides, and check that your bike is in good riding condition — tires properly inflated and brakes working well. ZaZu Productions presents "Cellmate Confessions," an original play by Joseph Alan Johnson inspired by local mug-shot tabloids and Internet sites. Hillsborough County invites the community to participate in National Park and Recreation Month by getting out to a natural area, park, playground, swimming pool, trail, or other public space every weekend this July. This year is particularly motivating as there are five weekends in July, giving citizens a record number of opportunities to visit a local Regional Park.
