Friday August 17 Thieves pried open the rear of a business in the 4600 block of Florida Avenue stealing a 1985 Chevy pick-up truck with an all-terrain vehicle in the bed. The vehicle was found abandoned the same day by police, but the owner did not yet realize the truck was stolen. Upon the victim filing a police report, they found that police had recovered the vehicle.
Friday, June 8 An unknown suspect removed the entire air-conditioning unit from a vacant residence in the 1200 block of East Caracas Street and fled. A search of the neighborhood came up empty. Police have no further leads. Saturday, June 9 A man unlawfully entered a storage shed through an unlocked door in the  back yard of a house in the 1400 block of 21st Avenue East. Thursday, May 31 An unknown suspect or suspects forced their way into a residence in the 500 block of West Hilda Street in South Seminole Heights while the occupants slept. About $1,000 worth of property, including an Xbox 360, controller, amplifier and eight games, were stolen.
Arrest: Booker Ray, 51, of East Tampa, was arrested on May 17 on charges of burglary and grand theft in connection to a burglary at 302 W. Wilder Ave. He was released on May 18 on a $9,500 bond. Tuesday, May 8 An auto burglary was reported at 1428 E. Emma St. The culprit entered the vehicle through an unlocked door and stole some items, including a debit card. Between May 8 and May 9, someone broke into a vehicle parked at 1933 E. Hillsborough Ave. and stole some property. Sunday, May 13 Between 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., someone entered the Camelot Community Care Teen Center, 4206 N. Nebraska Ave., took a laptop and fled with the business van. Saturday, April 21 A property owner at 17000 North Lakeshore Dr. noticed that a residence he rents out was burglarized. The suspects cut the padlock on the front door, stealing flat screen televisions, a laptop and other electronics. An unknown suspect kicked in the rear door of Northside 4X4 located 513 W. Waters Ave., taking tools and fleeing undetected. The business has an alarm but it did not go off, presumably due to bad weather in the area possibly effecting the system. Friday, April 13 Between April 13 and April 15, someone pried open the driver’s door of a Ford Expedition in the 8500 block of North Armenia Avenue and took a Kenwood car stereo and amplifier. Someone broke into a residence in the 2000 block of East Powhattan Avenue and stole $3,200, a turntable DJ set, a 32” flat screen television, and a Dell computer. On April 12, four burglaries occurred with a similar vehicle involved in and around the Lowry Park North area. Tampa Police Department District 2 has seen an emerging pattern in residential burglaries. According to a crime alert, last Friday, April 7, at about 12.10 a.m., two suspects were witnessed attempting to kick in the front door to a residence in the 6000 block of North Orange Blossom Avenue. The suspects left walking westbound on West Idlewild Avenue after realizing that they were being watched. Mar. 28  Someone climbed through an unlocked bedroom window on the 8600 block of North 13th Street and stole two flat screen TVs and a laptop computer. Police say a red car was seen in the driveway of the residence and might have been involved in the crime.  Mar. 29  A woman observed a suspect riding a bicycle back and forth by her residence on the 8200 block of North Semmes Street. March 14 Police say a man reported being robbed at gunpoint while walking on the 3200 block of East Mohawk Avenue. According to the victim, the suspect suddenly approached him, pointed a gun at him and demanded his wallet. The victim tossed over his wallet, which contained $50, an EBT card, Social Security and identification cards. The suspect then fled to the northwest. March 3 The shed of a house on the 1500 block of East Sligh Avenue was pried open, and three lawnmowers, three trimmers, and a leaf blower were stolen from inside. Police say there was a delay in reporting the crime because the victim assumed the items would be returned. A witness reported seeing three men loading unspecified property into a pickup truck, according to investigators. Mar. 1 Someone found a house key hidden on the front porch railing of a house in the 1300 block of East Norfolk Street and entered the residence. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a Sony Playstation 3 and four game cartridges, Panasonic Lumix digital camera, an Apple Powerbook, and an Apple Macbook. Feb. 23  The front dining room window of a residence was smashed open on the 8400 block of North Armenia Avenue. Police say a watch and four cell phones were stolen, and that DNA evidence was recovered from the broken window.  The rear door of a house on the 200 block of West Hiawatha Street was kicked open, and someone stole a Wii game system, several Wii games, a camcorder, a Sony Fine Pix camera, miscellaneous women's jewelry, and poured bleach over the victim's safe. Feb. 14 Police arrested and charged Jeffery Hayes, of 2408 E Annie St., with burglary and grand theft. Over a 24-hour period, police say, Hayes entered an unoccupied residence through an unlocked rear window multiple times and stole many items. Hayes, 52, is currently held in jail on $9,500 bond. Feb. 17 Police are searching for two robbery suspects after they allegedly drove a Pinellas County man to Tampa, stopped the car at East Jean and North King streets, pointed a pistol at him, then severely beat him after he lunged for the gun. Someone threw a plant through a glass entrance door at The Independent bar and cafe, at 5016 N Florida Ave, early Monday morning, according to the Tampa Police Department. Someone then walked inside and stole beer. The burglary occured after closing time, sometime between midnight and 5 a.m., police said. Investigators aren't releasing further details. Independent co-owner Valerie Vellines declined to say how much merchandise she lost, but said the Independent is open for normal business hours today.

Feb. 2 The window of a locked garage was broken out on the 100 block of West Lambright Street, and a person police describe as a "known suspect" stole 10 puppies from inside. Nine of the puppies have been recovered and an arrest is forthcoming, investigators say. Feb. 5 Police arrested and charged Randy Bouyer, 30, with burglary and petit theft at Chamberlain High School.
