City to Paint and Repair Water Tower Welcoming Residents to Tampa

The "Welcome to West Tampa" mural will honor the neighborhood, according to city officials.

Earlier this week, Mayor Bob Buckhorn announced plans to paint the elevated water tower in west tampa to welcome residents and pay homage to the area's culture. “When I think of West Tampa, I think about the social clubs and cigar factories, little league games, and community leaders like Charlie Miranda and EJ Salcines. This is an opportunity to tell West Tampa’s story, which is so ingrained in the fabric of Tampa,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn in a news release. “It is just one way to honor the heritage and culture of the West Tampa community that continues to shape our city.” Before the process begins, city officials plan to repair and re-coat the tank at a cost of $350,000.
