Under a cloudy sky, bicyclists visiting the Seminole Heights Sunday Market today knew their cherished chariots were in safe hands at the Market's innovative bike valet parking area.
The Seminole Heights Bicycle Club -- along with Tampa bike valet czar Jim Shirk -- provide the free service for bicyclists who pedal to the Market.
Several dozen cyclists use the free service -- and enjoy chatting with the Seminole Heights Bicycle Club at the Market. Today was the last Sunday Market in Seminole Heights for the season until it begins again in October.
Here in this photo, SHBC member and communications coordinator Margaret Shepherd stands in front of today's bike parking valet area in front of beautiful Hillsborough High School.
Also in Seminole Heights bicycle news, don't forget that the Velo Champ bicycle store on Central Avenue at Hanna celebrates its 1-year anniversary on Thursday May 17 at 7 p.m. Come visit Jordan Miller, and parents Doug and Sue, and celebrate Velo Champ being part of the Seminole Heights scene for the past year.
And one day earlier on Wednesday, May 16, there will be a "Ride of Silence" in Tampa to memorialize the lives of bicyclists killed in the Tampa/Hillsborough County area in the past year. The ride starts at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa. Please gather at 6:30 p.m. and the ride starts at 7 p.m..

Alan, I've really been enjoying your blog. I'm not a bicyclist myself, but I always find great info in your posts. Thanks!

Thanks for your comments Chris -- I hope you get involved in the Friendship TrailBridge issue. You don't have to be a bicyclist for that. My most recent post offers tips on talking points to write letters and call the county commissioners.
