"What Do You Recommend?" is an occasional feature that asks Patch readers to weigh in on their favorite menu items at local restaurants and bars.

Big John's Alabama B-B-Q is a Southern style restaurant serving the Seminole Heights area from its location just east of Tampa's first neighborhood.

Despite it landing outside the neighborhood boundaries, Seminole Heights residents voted Big John's as the best barbeque joint in the 2011 edition of Patch Picks.

Serving combination plates and meals such as ribs, chicken, pulled pork, potato salad, collard greens, beans, mac and cheese, sausage, macaroni salad and much more, this local favorite is an essential dining destination for any local.

think it is out of business there on the corner of Hanna and Florida (Ole Man Bar-B-Q) But you should try SOOOO Good Bar-B-Q on Hillsborough its about a block past Taco Bus on the same side of the road and they really rock :)

Doug- Ole Man is out of business you're right. I was going to originally post about them and when I went over there yesterday I discovered that as well. I meant Big John's Alabama Barbeque. I guess I was still thinking about Ole Man when I wrote the headline. Sorry!
